Great beds

Great beds! Nice bar. Is under construction now but very kindly the hotel let me know in advance so was no surprise for me. I requested 2 beds as I went with a girlfriend and I got 2 splendid beds, had a very nice weekend. Certainly I would consider this hotel chain to go back. All very good!

The hotel is in the middle of substantial renovation which wasn’t clear at the time of the booking. The hotel only sent a notification after non-refundable reservation was made. I think Expedia should also mark the hotels undergoing renovation when known. Otherwise I wouldn’t recommend staying in the aforementioned property before the works are completed - supposedly September 2020. Rooms are shabby and dirty which contrasts hugely with already renovated lobby and restaurant. Breakfast was good and staff quite helpful.

I wanted to try out this hotel because I read in the reviews, or better the feedback from the hotel, on reviews of poor conditions that the rooms would be renovated in 2018. When I visit Belgium with my wife, I stay at the Hilton downtown Antwerp. I was looking for an alternative that had easy access to Antwerp city, but also the surrounding area since most of my family and friends live outside Antwerp. So we tried this hotel for 1 night. Net-Net: the rooms have not been renovated yet. When I inquired about the renovation, I was told by the person at the check-in counter that it would take place in 2019. The ground floor is renovated and the restaurant and bar looks great. The room was relatively small, which for a short stay would be ok, but not for a stay of a week or more. Airco unit was loud, hopefully the new ones will be better. For the moment, I will pass on this hotel for future stays until the renovation of the rooms have been completed.

In Antwerp for business and enjoyed my stay at the Van Der Valk. I drove to the hotel, which was easy to find, and was really pleased with the free parking. The hotel is conveniently positioned just off the ring road. The hotel staff were very, very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was fantastic - with virtually anything you could want. The walk to the City centre was only about 20 minutes, as well, and really straight forward.

Nice and accommodating staff at the reception and housekeeping. Some of the rooms are just too old. The pool and steam room are terrible. The breakfast was good. The location is fine and there is ample parking.
