The day we arrived the Parade went through the City which was amazing. Loved Gloucester for its vibrancy and friendliness. Lovely shopping areas. Walking round The Quayside was great and the markets. Would love a longer visit.

Patchy architectural environment, some run down buildings and many shops shuttered after closure. The city looks to be struggling - but very busy traffic-wise so no lack of potential customers. Lots of cafes but not so many good-looking restaurants.

We spent the day at Gloucester Quays which was very enjoyable, nice to read about the history as well as have a look around the shops. Lots of restaurants and pubs to go to also!

Lovely things to see. Especially enjoy the children's choir singing at the Cathedral in the late afternoon, quite magical.

"Excellent stay, as all Daniel thwaites brand hotels usually are...
Great food, great rooms, really comfortable, great hotel layout, milk and water dispensers in the hallway, which are genius idea, really make the difference for an avid tea/coffee drinker... Spa, gym, pool facilities are fabulous, very relaxing and well kept. Staff were lovely as usual, they pick good people.
Only thing I'd complain about is having to pay for parking, which I didn't expect... But it was only a fiver per night so not too unreasonable."
"Absolutely gorgeous hotel and I can't believe I got it for the price I did. I stayed alone on business mid week and the facilities were brilliant.
A high standard Spa with a beautiful view out of the windows, decent sized gym (although it opened quite late at 7am, not the best when you have an early start - 6am would be perfect) and I even treated myself to a late evening massage (Emily was great).
The food was delicious, especially the breakfast, and the staff were all very polite and helpful.
I'd be staying much more often if the price was that achievable mid week (circa £120)."
"Had a lovely stay in the holiday inn Bristol Filton. The hotel has recently been refurbished and it was really nicely done. Very smart. Reception were really friendly and the staff in the restaurant in the evening were very friendly. The meal was also very good and freshly cooked. The internet was excellent and fast. The bed was really comfy and as two large single beds together, so extremely large. The bathroom was very clean as was the room. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. "
