This hotel is a good base for sightseeing in the world heritage, Shirakami mountains. It only takes about a 25-minute drive to the gate of the mountains, the Aqua Green Village Anmon. The visitor center is next to the hotel so you should visit this in advance to get all the information you need about Shirakami mountains.
This venue is quite old but they provide good breakfast and dinner at a tatami-style restaurant without chairs. Instead of using chairs, you sit on cushions (zabuton) on the tatami mat. Also, they have a hot spring but it is open to the public which means people who are not guests can also use this. They have a hot spring for hotel guests only but it's very small.
The hotel staff are very accommodating. They kindly answered all the questions I asked. They have free parking and free wifi. There are photos and autographs of celebrities in the lobby who stayed in the hotel.
