Very clean
Stayed here before and always preferred this place because of the central location and for budget conscious travelers, this is one of the best. Very clean and close to main transportation lines

10/10 Exceptional

Had a single bed room with shared toilet and shower/bath. Never had to wait a moment to use bathroom. Room also had a sink which was very useful. Room had a balcony too be able to enjoy the energy of the street.
Lloyd, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

Outdated property and rooms. Constant construction noise and walls are paper thin between rooms.
Johnny, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Very simple but super clean accommodations. It was really all we needed for a home base in a great location. 2 metro stations very close (5min or 8min) walk. They have turndown service if you run out of bathroom supplies or need new towels which was nice. I was glad we got assigned a room not overlooking the street and it’s a very busy shopping area and always buzzing with people. The woman was nice who checked us in but spoke no English, so we just used Google translate and that worked perfectly well.
Janine, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

The location was good. The room was quiet. The staff was very helful. However. We experienced elevator problems, electricity outage, toilet needed repair. I am not sure if I booked the right place as advertised in Expedia.

Satisfactory
In a very central location right in the centre shirt walk away from grand via metro stop. The room was spacious

Nothing special about this property a place where to crash and does it. No special amenities, no special services, terrible blankets and hand wash inside the shower for shampoo and body wash. Great location tho.

Best customer service, and nicest host!
Tolu, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

The accommodations are simple but clean. Excellent location very near very good restaurants, and a metro station is barely a 5 minute walk from the nearest metro station (Tribunal). The only drawback is that one must walk up a couple flights of steps to enter the property which can be rough with lots of luggage.

The location

Very well located. Private room with all you need. If something, I would advise to renovate mattress
Mikel, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Traditional but a little dated.
The Hostal is traditional but a little bit dated. However, it was clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We booked last minute due to a problem with previous hotel. The price paid was excessive and so therefore could not be considered value for money.
Angeline, 1-night trip

Very basic room
Very basic room. A bed and a sink and a shelf. Not even a picture on the wall. Quite a bit of noise from the street. But then it's very centrally located. That's the only advantage, not worth the price. The internet was good. Most of the staff was nice but not much English spoken. Cleaning staff did a good job.
Charlotte, 4-night trip

The building is awful... needs paint, maintenence and more light .. with a couple of dollars they will look a lot better
LUIS, 2-night trip

Great Location
Great little budget hotel in the centre of Madrid's shopping district. The main entrance lobby is a common area to a multi tenant building and it looks a little grim. But there is an elevator to the hotel entrance which is more inviting. Room was spacious with traditional Spanish/French doors to a small balcony. The pedestrian street is noisy but new double glazed windows shut that out along with quiet air conditioner.

Hostal Palacios is centrally located in Madrid and within walking distance of the main tourist attractions. The street itself is a major walking street (no cars) and has tons of shopping and eating options. I took the Metro from the airport to get there and it was fairly straightforward, efficient and inexpensive. The room was very clean with a private bath. Staff were friendly and accommodating. My room was very quiet compared to the busy foot traffic outside the hostal. My only complaint is that on my second day I had no hot water. I reported this around 5 pm and was told it would be looked after but there was still no water by my departure the following day at 7:30 am. Still, I would stay here again.

Are you someone who has backpacked through Europe and stayed in places that were clean and simple? This is a step up from there, but still more of a backpacker place than a real hotel. They call it a 'hostal' for a reason. Ikea furniture, one very bright fluorescent light bulb with a lampshade that doesn't blocking naked lightbulb. Rooms are not cleaned. But on the other hand, it was comfortable and clean, Wi-Fi works well, bathroom was very good, hot water, good water pressure. Curtains block the light. Small window looking at over the back of the other building provided some air as needed. Walls pretty thin on the other hand and drunk young people coming back after the bars woke me up and even an older couple just talking it louder voices was pretty audible while in the room. But location is incredible. Right in the center of everything you could want w/European charm and safe. Several Metro stations within a 5-minute walk. I would definitely stay here again. The price is about half of what you pay for most hotels. But there's no restaurant, the so-called front desk is really not easy accessible, there's no support at all if you have questions, everything uses a traditional key and you have to use three of them to get from the outside through a second door into room. None of that matters to me. It's clean safe secure and affordable and a great location.
