Hotel de la Gare
The hotel is very old and tired. Nothing like the website claims. Does not have a restaurant. Claims to have 2 bars but has 1 limited choice bar. Definitely not for disabled persons as there is no elevator and the stairs are a little awkward.

Budget hotel near train station
An ok budget hotel close to the old downtown of Troyes. The closeness to the train station and the room rate both attracted me to this hotel. Check-in was very friendly and efficient. The room was relatively small and the double-wide bed was a sagging a bit in the middle. The outside rolling shutters are very good for noise reduction and the windows were tight. The bathroom could have been equipped with a few more amenities. There were no glass tumblers or porcelain cups in the room, only flimsy paper cups. I had to get a few extra ones from the reception. The hotel does not have an elevator {as far as I could tell}, so one has to haul luggage up the stairs. There is a large breakfast room which is also used for dinner service upon order. Breakfast would have been an extra 11.00 Euros. I chose to have breakfast in small restaurants or cafés downtown or with friends in town.

Friendly traditional family run hotel in a convenient spot a short walk from town. Good breakfast, and clean rooms. No lift, so can be a little challenging taking luggage to rooms. The nearby newly built station car park is cheap and very secure.

Good but lacking meals
Very good in cleanses, temperature conditioning, etc., and some additional service such as deposit of my baggage after checkout but breakfast is just the minimum.

We required a wheelchair accessible room but it was so tiny we had to move the bed in order to get the wheelchair into the bathroom.. Not close to anything. Do not recommend.

2/10 Poor

Parking is a major issue for this property. I was on my second lap around the block before I found somewhere to park to check-in. I blocked a service road for 5 minutes waiting for another driver to leave his carpark. I have no doubt that once I left this car park to do the things planned it would not be available on return. It was 1645 when I was told by reception that the street parking was free till 0900 the following day. According to the parking meter it was paid parking till 1900. I was shown underground parking which was poorly lit when shown to me. The underground parking was by stair access only - there was no elevator for customers or baggage. The receptionist did not speak English though there was a young lady assisting with translation. In the end I assessed the parking situation as a problem for me. Street parking was unreliable and the free parking times were misrepresented to me. The underground parking was poorly lit and with no elevator assistance for luggage I considered carrying my luggage up the stairs a health and safety issue for a senior citizen. The Hotel website as presented on Expedia fails to mention the off street parking is not suitable for tall vehicles and there is no luggage elevator. Contrary to the website the hotel receptionist did not speak English, and through her young translator gave false information of the street parking time zones. I request Expedia refund the $100.87 I prepaid for the accommodation.

Convenient location
Hotel was close to the station which is why we chose it. It was comfortable, spacious and clean all you need for an overnight stay. The staff were friendly however if your French is as woeful as mine there is little English spoken. This in no way detracts from the hotel but I usually choose a place where I can get help if I need it.

Not acceptable
After driving for 5 & half hours from the south of France we chose to stay at this hotel as it was in an ideal situation to the centre of Troyes, as we approached the hotel we found there was road works right outside the hotel to wich we could not find a way of getting into the entrance. After paying for parking at a nearby car park we then had to walk over what I would call a building site to get to the entrance, after being told by reception how to get to their underground car park which we had to pay for and found it a bit of an assault course to park the car & after negotiating dark stirs to the hotel reception we mentioned that we were not happy to which the receptionist said she would give us a better room on the top floor which had air conditioning. Well when we got into the room it was like a rabbit hutch which was in the roof area with a angled ceiling to which there was no way you could stand on one side of the bed, as well as that there was no water pressure when using the shower as well as the toilet would not flush properly, we complained about this and all we got I’m sorry I wasn’t concentrating when I allocated that room, if that was an upgrade I hate to think what the other rooms were like? I would not recommend staying at this hotel. We are so very disappointed with our stay at this hotel that we did not enjoy our only evening out in Troyes.

Pleasant overnight stay
Unfortunately we couldn’t use the car parking due to the fact we had a top box, so we had to park else where. The road works are a boot of a disturbance but this isn’t the hotel’s fault. Generally the staff were very helpful and gave us a ground floor room as there is no lift and we had a number of bags. Generally very good and I would stay there again.

Great stopover hotel between Calais and the Alps
We often use this hotel as a great and quite cheap stop off point halfway down France between Calais and the Alps. Very friendly service and comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Rooms have been renovated reasonably recently - if you get a superior one you will overlook the square at the front and the standard have no view out the back - but for an overnight visit we don't worry. Free overnight parking opposite or just round corner. Right beside the old town, we don't bother with breakfast at the hotel, but stroll into the gorgeous medieval streets where there are some great cafés serving petit dejeuner for 3 or 4 euros. The road outside the hotel was being remade whilst we were there. It probably won't take long to finish and we were not disturbed. Local restaurants are great for an evening meal in the old town which looks like the setting for Diagon Ave in Harry Potter - just be warned that the local delicacy served in restaurants- Andouilette is a local sausage containing tripe and brains - in big lumps!!!! There are plenty of other, and in my opinion, more edible, alternatives.

Troyes is definitely worth a visit!
Location was convenient although a bit noisy at times with traffic and the doors to the rooms and halls were impossible to close quietly. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the breakfast was good value. I would stay here again.
