This is our second time staying at Hotel Gimmond in Kyoto. It is a great hotel with clean, comfortable but small rooms. The hotel is close to the subway station and to restaurants and shops. And is a 15 min walk away from the Imperial Palace.

An older hotel in a great location, not exactly right in the middle of things but an easy walk to Karasuma, Kawaramachi, Ponto-cho and the riverside. My single room was small but comfortable and the bath was new and clean. Especially given the reasonable price I have no complaints.

decent modern hotel in good location
Hotel is located near the intersection of the two main subway lines in Kyoto. It is a convenient, standard hotel with smallish rooms and standard amenities.

no way a 4 star!
We were in Kyoto for only two nights. This hotel is in no way a 4 star hotel. The rooms are small but tidy. Bathrooms resembled lavatories on an airplane. The location was good. The price was high for this property. From the looks of the hotel, I would've considered this a 2 star property.

Hotel Gimmond
Hotel has a nice location, friendly staff, but the rooms are small. It's quite common for Japan though.

A Great Place to Stay in Kyoto
The hotel staff were very accommodating and the room was clean and comfortable. It was also very well located; the subway was only three blocks away, and some sites were within easy walking distance. I didn't have breakfast there, but was able to buy what I wanted at the convenience stores in the area. The hotel is also very close to Kyoto station, the main train station of the city.

Great Location
Hotel is very foreign guest friendly and handles lots of western tourists.
Rooms are just large enough as not to be crowded and beds are firm but comfy.
One block from subway, which now has signs in English, and a short taxi from JR rail station.
Right behind hotel is a great walking area of shops and food in old tradition and great 7-11 right in front of hotel, which does not put anything in the firge bar.
Very reasonable rates and breakfast charge.
