This is a pretty good value. It cost about $64 USD per night. I did not opt for the breakfast add on because I was leaving early for my flight.
It's a small room, compared to most US hotels, but it's similar to what I've seen in high density cities like New York and Japan. It's clean, they provided slippers, they have a bidet, they provided bath wash in the shower stall, and they provided a tooth brush and paste.
I was able to walk 10-15 minutes to the Shilin Night Market at around 9pm at night, and the walk seemed safe.
The front desk staff spoke some English, and were super-friendly and helpful. They gave me instructions to the Shilin Market, even though I could've pulled it up in Apple or Google Maps.
To get here, I took the Airport Line Express train (~$5 USD, 160 TWD) from Taipei airport to the Taipei Main Station. From the Taipei Main Station, I was going to take the bus to the hotel, but that night, the bus was delayed by 20 minutes, and so I took a $7 uber to the hotel.
The only thing that could be improved is the air conditioning. It worked fine except that I could faintly detect a "musty" smell from the AC, but it was not bothersome.
Otherwise, a great find!
