The hotel is a little far from Galle Fort, but its not too bad and the amazing view the hotel provides makes up for that. The hotel itself has a very nice setting and looks very promising- serene lobby with ponds, colonial architecture, infinity pool and a view. However, the room we stayed in just didn't jive with the original setting. The room has a contemporary vibe, but thats destroyed by the lack of cleanliness and maintenance. The room was pretty dirty with scuff marks everywhere. Broken door locks and ants didn't help the situation. The bathroom smelled like mold, which wasn't great either.
Service was good- they addressed some of the issues. There was an issue too because we booked via hotels.com and it said breakfast was supposed to be included, but it wasn't and we had to pay extra. If I was going back to Galle I wouldn't stay here. I'd go a little closer to the Fort.
