I picked this 5-star hotel for its location. And on that front, it did not disappoint. I know Paris well and I knew this would be a prime location and indeed, it was. Since it’s a 5-star, I thought everything else would be up to par, but that is not the case. The service is first class. The fact that all the little things were included, like bottled water, afternoon drinks, etc. was truly well appreciated. A 5-star shouldn’t nickel-and-dime it’s guests. The assistance from the front desk was also superb. They pulled strings to get me restaurant reservations I couldn’t get online. The common area where guests could relax and have something to drink is superb. On the day I checked out, it was super early and they made sure I was well taken care of. So all of that is 5-star. BUT the room itself is sadly NOT 5-star. It’s tiny and more annoyingly, the bathroom is so small, it’s borderline unusable. After each shower, the floor was all wet even though I was careful not to run the water too hard. Then the sink counter is so tiny I had to remove all of their stuff to accommodate a few of my things. Even then I had to keep some of them in the room. Moreover, one could tell that the counter and the tiny cabinet above are not in their best condition. For a 5-star, this is really not forgivable. I could consider reserving a larger room next time, but given the price, shouldn’t I just go to one of those well known 5-star palaces in Paris?
