City core has many assets and attractions. It also conveys the sense of a decent country facing up to challengeIs. Surrounding areas are safer and more livable. To experience La Pura Vida and the richness of nature, we went on to the Pacific Coast.

San José is a very busy city! Highly recommend the food and walking tour downtown San Jose. 8min. Uber ride to the Barrio Escalante- very trendy neighborhood with shops and dining. Do not recommend walking downtown San Jose after 7pm.

So many cultural points of interests within walking distance of each other. Plus, the pedestrian facilities are protected from vehicular traffic and are ADA compliant.

San Jose felt welcoming, right from the start of my time there,as my taxi transfer from the airport cost LESS than I had been quoted for, which has never happened before! City felt safe, and was clean and tidy, with no worries about my safety! Bravo!

We thought of San Jose as a base from which we could take day trips. But we enjoyed some time in town shopping, exploring the central market, and taking the San Jose nightlife tour.

Although there on family business, San Jose has some great shopping, dining and beautiful parks. One of the shopping malls I went to was as big as, with as many shopping choices and amazing decorations as any other mall I have been to in the word!

Nice city to come to, and there is a lot to do. The people are friendly and very helpful, no harassments didn't feel like I was in danger at all. I would definitely come back to San José

It is busy there - -very old and compact. Every storefront full, though, and lots and lots of people walking around all day; it is a busy atmosphere. Very interesting, actually.

San Jose is a basic city which is helpful to get supplies if going to more of the remote areas of Costa Rica. There are some great food options as well.

The only problem walking was there were a number of intersections without any controls and it was harrowing to cross the street,
