Hardly any amenities unlike all other hotels I stayed at in the same price range. Not even bottled water but a jug of tap water which was surprising. Property tucked away in a dark side street I felt slightly unsafe coming back after exploring the area. No lights outside, just a dark sliding door to enter through one wouldn’t think it’s a hotel. Bathroom fan doesn’t switch off so can hear noise all night which kept me awake. Didn’t sleep at all the first night. Staff informed and didn’t provide a solution until 3am when they said someone could come to the room to switch it off manually. Room is quite small and window frosted so felt super claustrophobic. The bed comfortable however. Table for 2 tucked right next to bed and in front of robe. There is really no space for it at all so you bump into it and get bruises or can’t open the already tiny robe. TV on wall to the side of the bed - super awkward position. The bar/garden area seems nice but walked through and didn’t even get acknowledgment by the bartender who was busy chatting away with another customer in their native language (may have been French). Not even a hello or welcome or eye contact. Just ignored you so I left. It wasn’t the experience I was hoping for unfortunately.

Modern and Efficient Accommodation
Kabin Kyoto is an efficient, eco friendly, modern accommodation. The room size is dependent on your choice, the room has a digital lock, slippers, hot flask for boiling water, TV and a free wifi. Cleaning service is provided after 3 nights of stay but they do provide daily garbage removal if you place a magnet outside your door. Check with the hotel if you require daily cleaning, they may do so with a fee. Amenities such as toothbrush without toothpaste, towels, shower caps, teabags are provided in a central location on each floor near the elevator which you can self help. The bathroom size is smaller but well compartmented, the water pressure for the shower is very strong and good. They have a group of young international staff working in the front desk and they are quite helpful. Restaurant recommendations etc are provided via scanning of a QR code in the hotel card. My room overlooked a carpark, the hotel is located at the back street of Shijo Kawaramachi in a residential area. It is at least a 10mins walk to the key shopping main road. The hotel name card provides small font size in Japanese of the hotel location which is not descriptive enough for the local drivers if you hail a taxi from the street. If you use Go Taxi App is fine. Location is ok but you must walk at least 10 to 15 mins to the subway station. For folks with walking issues, it’s more efficient to cab around. Pricing of hotel room is reasonable depending on the season.

Welcoming and clean but not uptight. Great location for exploring Kyoto, it’s close enough to busses and trains for a quick walk, but far enough away from the stations to not be too crowded. The courtyard is charming and all the staff were very helpful.

I highly recommend this property to English speaking tourists. The property is mostly staffed by other foreigners speaking English and other languages. Aside from that the check-in and check out processes are painless, and the rooms are well equipped. The hotel is about 10 minutes from Hankyu Kyoto-Kawaramachi station and there are plenty of options for shopping, food, and drink a short walk away. Very convenient choice for a stay in Kyoto!
