The room was small but clean, and the staff was awesome. We took the F train from Manhattan to 21st/Queensbridge station, and had a 10-minute walk; the walk is easy, but the neighborhood is NOTHING like what is represented in the Hotels.com pictures. If I had been alone, I wouldn't have cared - I can take care of myself in any neighborhood in NYC, after 40 years of traveling in and out of the city. But this time I had wife and 2 young kids with me, so I am a little upset that the neighborhood pictures are 100% inaccurate. The hotel is right next to low income housing - I have nothing against the quality of nearby housing (everyone needs a place to live, and the quality of your housing is not a reflection of your character), but if you aren't comfortable with that, and you're paying north of $400 a night for a room, Hotels, com should be VERY explicit about the neighborhood in which you'll be starting. That being said, once you're actually inside the hotel, it's quite nice. Wonderful staff, and absolutely FABULOUS breakfast. Manhattan is only 20 minutes away by subway, Long Island City is right next door. No crazy parties going on at the hotel, so it was a peaceful stay. If you want to Uber anywhere, the wait time is 2 minutes or less, because the hotel is close to a lot of things. Apologies for the long review, but I just wanted to give future travelers an honest review. Happy travels!
