On arrival the reception was closed, the bell did not work and the telphone number noted to the entrance door went to answerphone. I tried using the number listed on Hotel.com but this was incorrect.
After almost 30 minutes I questioned a resident leaving who informed me that I could check in at the pub next door, and that this was written on a notice outside. The notice was located within a large glass case and was approximately A5 and handwritten, it was also paritaly obscured by a Circus advertisement, the glass case was not adjacent to the entrance.
After finally getting my key I went to my room (double), the room was tiny and the double bed took up most of the room. I requested another room, this was changed to a larger room.
Within the room was a TV, which, when turned on made a loud noise and never came on again, I mentioned this to reception and it was changed with one that would turn on with the remote control but would not change channels or alter sound levels. The toilet door was a sliding door but was not controlled by a rail at the bottom, this meant the door never fully closed and was always at an angle from the hangers.
The breafast was of a reasonable standard but was served in the bar which reeked of stale beer.
I don't know if Hotels.com ever visit their properties but would like to think that such low standards are noted and acted upon. Having used Hotels.com for many years this was by far the worst hotel I've stayed at using your website.
