Review of an Experienced Traveller
Allow me to preface my remarks by telling you I've traveled to Cuba and many other poor countries many, many times. You need to "adjust" your expectations accordingly. So my comments are not necessarily uncommon nor unexpected. It will leave it to you determine if they might be critical to your stay.
The staff were very friendly, helpful, and some spoke English. The room was cleaned daily to our satisfaction. The cook was excellent and breakfast included coffee, juice, fruit, one egg, and toasted buns. My room (unit C at the rear of the building) was not ready until 35 minutes after their 3 pm check-in time. The room was clean, air conditioned, and had a lot of hot water. The safe was not bolted to the wall and could easily have been removed from the room by anyone with ill intent. The hot and cold faucets were reversed. The door could only be locked from the inside with a key, considered a safety issue in many places.
Summary: I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.
