We just spent five nights at the Hotel Indigo in Williamsburg. The location is good if you want to stay outside the city's hustle and bustle. Williamsburg is trendy, and there are cute shops, good restaurants, and access to transportation, all relatively close.
The hotel's aesthetic is nice—chic and up-to-date. The rooms are small but not bad for NYC. We are a family of five, so we had two connecting rooms.
Here's where we were disappointed—overall, the staff was rude and could not be bothered. I know this is not a five-star resort, but for the amount we paid for two rooms for five nights, pleasant customer service would be nice. I called multiple times before our arrival date and spoke with the front desk for various questions. Manly to confirm that we will arrive early morning from a red-eye and ensure the rooms are connected. I was promised this was written in our notes. When we arrived, they couldn't check us in early- understandable. What wasn't okay was the attitude that we were greeted with. I was told that our file had no notes regarding room preference. We asked to check our bags and grab the kids something to eat at the lobby bar, where the first 5 items off the tiny menu were unavailable. When we needed to get something else from a bag before walking around, they rolled their eyes. I don’t expect 5-star service, but I expect respect as a guest. It's not kid-friendly unless you plan to stay in your room only. Sadly 5 nights, the attitude and service did not improve
