If you're planning a bit of sightseeing head to Archaeological Park of Neapolis— just one of the monuments in Neapolis. You could also start your cultural experience by heading over to the cathedral in the area.
Admired for its rich culture and seaside, Syracuse features attractions such as Temple of Apollo and Lungomare di Ortigia. This historical city has something for everyone including its archaeological sites, cafes, and sights like Piazza del Duomo and Cathedral of Syracuse.
The Ortigia area of Syracuse is lively and there are several interesting churches, and countless restaurants with similar menus as in most of Sicily. The ZTL makes parking or driving impossible except for pricey garages, but it's well worth a visit.

Syracuse is not as popular as Palermo or Taormina etc but definetely a place you should not miss. We loved the quietness and history of the Ortigia Island. Food and beaches are amazing. Maniace Castle is also a must see!

If staying after Easter, use the little red hop-on-hop-off bus at !0Euros each to travel around and to all the main sights. It runs every 20 minutes from Archimedes (by the fountain of Diana) .

The Ortigia section of Syracuse was very quaint and picturesque. Loved little alleyways and the fortress at the tip of the island. Nice walk on the west side for drinks and sunset.

Take a walk to the Duomo Syracusa in the late afternoon as the light catches the facade. If youre lucky the moon might rising over the portico. Absolutely fantastic.

Ortygia is filled with antiquities, fresh fish, shops, and views. There are interesting sites in mainland Syracuse to walk to. However, Syracuse itself was disappointed me because the archeological site is nothing in comparison to others on Sicily.

Discover in Ortigia - Syracusa the fascinating Greek culture, birthplace of the genius Archimedes, great swimming, restaurants, and people. Totally enjoyed it.

Syracuse has a lot to see in its own right (vs Ortigia) and less touristy. I enjoyed the buildings and lay out of the streets, little corner places.

Ortigia is an extremely beautiful place. Easily walkable and lots to see. Don't miss visiting the Neapolis in Syracuse.
"Lovely hotel with a very warm feel . Room was maybe a little smaller than expected so lucky we travel light .& booked a sea view . View was perfect !! Pic supplied of actual view .
Super clean with the most genuine friendly staff we've come across . More than just polite , they were warm & kind. Breakfast was truly amazing where you could order off menu , all inclusive . They even had arancini available !! Plus mini bar also included , which is a bonus when arriving hot & bothered . Would definitely stay again . "
"It was a great experience. The hotel owners did an excellent job with the remodel. Our room was very comfortable. The room and hotel facilities were better than the pictures. Bravo! "
"Fantastic!! We had such a wonderful time the two nights we stayed at Hotel Scala and wish we stayed longer! We arrived our first night very late and were ravenous from our travels that day, the staff offered us dinner right after we got settled in at the restaurant on the property. We got wine and the spaghetti vongole, which was delicious. The air conditioner kept the room nice and cold which was lovely to come back to at the end of the day. The two men who ran the place were extremely helpful in giving directions to the Main town Ortigia as well as helping us with anything we needed! Lovely place & lovely people! The only thing we wish was different was the location being closer to the main town, other than that it was great! "
