It's feeding time at the zoo! If you want to be reminded of some of the great animals our world is home to, you might want to pay a trip to Parque Reptilandia, located 2.7 mi (4.4 km) from central Barú. Why not take a stroll along the beaches and watch the sunset while you're here? If you have fun at Parque Reptilandia, you'll love Sunset Surf Dominical - Day Lessons and Costa Rica Stand Up Paddle Boarding, both located nearby.
Barú is well-known for its attractions such as Nauyaca Waterfalls and Parque Reptilandia. The city has something for everyone including restaurants along with sights like Eco Chontales Waterfall.
"Gorgeous property in a lovely tropical setting. We saw more wildlife at the resort than at the National Forest! Was our 2nd stay at Parador and we can’t wait to return!"
"We recently stayed at El Faro and had a fantastic experience. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and always quick to answer any questions we had. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well taken care of.
One of the highlights was the breathtaking view from our balcony—it was the perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring. Mornings were a treat, too, thanks to the delicious breakfasts served each day.
The location truly can’t be beat. It’s just a short walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, and the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park.
We had read about the hike up the hill to reach the hotel and were a bit concerned, but it turned out to be easier than expected—and even enjoyable (our group’s ages were 11-58)! We were lucky enough to spot a sloth in the trees along the way. For those who prefer not to walk, golf cart rides were always available.
A fun surprise were the capuchin monkeys—nicknamed “La Mafia” for a reason! They’re very entertaining to watch, but definitely keep your distance and your food hidden.
All in all, El Faro was a perfect base for our group Rolf two families. We would stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Manuel Antonio.

"Monkeys right outside was fun! Pool/swim up bar was nice. This place is right next to the entrance to MANP so that was great!
Spa was Great! I had a massage two days in a row because of a very sore neck! Andrea was great!
We stayed in the Ballena suite, which was wonderful!
The burgers at the restaurant were the size of my son’s head! The sushi was great too! Everyone was very helpful!
If you go during the rainy season, know that it rains a lot and some of the stairs get very slippery! I was hanging onto the railing and I still slipped and fell. I was fine, but just a heads up that when it rains it POURS and the floors are very slippery so be careful!
Highly recommend this place!!!"
"We loved this place! Stayed on a family vacation with me and my 13 year-old, and it was great - appropriate for couples, families, etc. The pool was great, the location on the beach was awesome. The igloos were so cool - cozy, but enough room to move around and hang out. Breakfast at the hotel was delish. We would highly recommend to anyone going to Manuel Antonio!!"
"Staff and management were amazing. They were very accommodating. The room was so spacious. The walk to the beach was an adventure and it is beautiful. The breakfast was amazing and pizza at the restaurant was good. So excited to see monkeys outside balcony. I saw more wildlife at Shana than at the park. I definitely recommend this place. I loved it"
